David Loeb, born in 1953, grew up in Chappaqua, New York. His mother and her identical twin were both painters. He studied Fine Arts at Cornell, Yale, Boston, and Indiana Universities. In 1985, he was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study Chartres Cathedral and Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. Since then, he has divided his time between France and the US. In 1993, he received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. Loeb has taught at the New York Academy of Art and at Parsons School of Design, Paris. He exhibits on both sides of the Atlantic and currently lives with his wife, ceramist Anne Servanton-Loeb, in Fontainebleau, France.
